Recorded meetings are stored on the GatherPlace servers in our own proprietary format which allows playback in a web browser by supplying links to your guests.
Because this format requires our servers to manage the delivery, these cannot be downloaded in their native format, but they can be downloaded in the Flash format.

The recordings that are downloaded will be in a Flash format (FLV).
The download will be a compressed (Zipped) folder containing several files.
The compressed folder can be distributed to others or decompressed to play the recording locally.

For several reasons GatherPlace is only converting the recordings into the Flash format at this time.
Flash files are very portable and can be viewed on many different operating systems by virtually all modern web browsers.
Plus, Flash files can be uploaded to streaming services such as YouTube making it easier for people to make their recordings available to a larger audience without the need to purchase any equipment or services.

There are many programs available that will convert the downloaded Flash files into other formats.
